Day 6: Choosing Rest

I’m so happy that today is Sunday – the day that is traditionally considered “the Day of Rest”. I’m feeling particularly weary today. Not terribly achy nor fatigued, just weary. So today, I will deviate from my normal routine by embracing the challenge to just completely rest. To bask in God’s presence this morning with my church family and then on my own throughout the day. Rest for my body, my mind, and my spirit. A pause from work and worries, from emailing and researching and writing and housework. I’m determined to make it a full-on refreshing day.

And I’m even going to keep this blog post short. End it right here, in fact. All too often, I allow all that I believe is expected of me to dictate how I will live.

Today I’m disconnecting.

Hope your Sunday is wonderful. Choose well, my friends!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
Matthew 11:28-30
